Users of the West Glamorgan Archives and Swansea Central Library are
entitled to free parking at the Civic Centre (County Hall) in Swansea. There
is a barrier on exit. You need to get a token from Archives, Library Desk or
Enquiry Desk in the foyer to work the exit barrier. Both are closed on
Mondays.
The simplest way to find the wife's name is to obtain a certificate for the
birth of one of the children, which will show the mother's maiden name.

The Glamorgan Family history Society has indexed all churches and many
chapels for BMD's. The indices are in small booklets held at the archive.
The Register Office whilst in the same Building it is at opposite ends, the
archives in the East and the RGO in the West.
You are unlikely to get a certificate on the same day, they usually have a
backlog. The archives have facismile bound copies of the original BMD's done
in church and
many chapels. So if they married in St.mary's they have records in book
form.
I dont know how you are going to Swansea, but if you go by car, come off the
M4 at high bridge over the Neath River, it goes down and joings the jersey
marine
road into swansea passed Amazon. Follow this main road into Swansea, you
pass over the river Tawe, keep going passed Sainbury's on the left. two
traffic lights later
you will see a swimming pool on the left marked SC2, then Tesco on the
right, you will see County hall a big white building on the right, but take
the right turn at the traffic
lights and then the first left turn opposite the Tesco entrance. In this
narrow road you will see on the right is an entrance into a covered parking
garage run by the council, with attendant all day. They charge £6 all day
and close at 6pm
When you walk out of there turn right and then first left along side the
prison wall towards the sea. County hall is straight across the road. Its
about about 800 yards or so
The archives are to the right after you enter the main entrance of the
building. The register off is at the opposite end to this.
When you leave the covered parking area, turn left then right and left again
passed Tesco and follow the road back to the M4
You might be lucky and get a copy of the original church register entry
rather than a re-issued RGO one.
I am usually there on Tuesdays, but next week I am going to the National
Archives at Kew Gardens London for a couple of days.
Hope this helps
Regards
Bryan
