Hi Bryan,
My thanks for your travelling advice, that is really helpful indeed. I have difficulty
walking distances and this will be of immense help.
I have done as you advised and put DINNING on Glamorgan rootsweb however as I write this I
realise I have not subscribed! I will find out how as soon as I close this.
I started this email yesterday and saved to drafts.
As of this morning I am going to have to cancel Tuesday, I awoke to find my car
vandalised. I will re book for a later date and who knows we make even get to meet after
all! I was really looking forward to the original copies of documents.
I have a lot of research in Newcastle Upon Tyne and have the LDS trial site covering most
of my research area. It is so good to look at originals and for those who could read and
write to see their actual handwriting. A copy is never the same but not to be frowned
upon.
I have been fortunate enough to go to Kew on a number of occasions and have been very
successful in my findings. My paternal line of JOBE for Newcastle Upon Tyne had two WW1
deaths including my grandfather who was originally army but was one of the original
recruits of 100 Squadron joining the Royal Flying Corps, I am digressing but only to say
that slowly, over the times I went to Kew during a three year period, they had further
information that was not available on my previous visits. I think this may well be
connected to the lost and damaged documents but it is a work in progress.
Good luck for Tuesday,
Thanks again for all your help and advice
Anne
I was really thrilled at Kew to be able to use my camera but no flash.
