Greetings all.Further to my last message.I remember seeing an old book many
years ago,In the Central Library,Here in Cardiff.It was a Gower Book.I
cannot remember it's title,But I do remember seeing a photo of a Billy GIBBS
in it.I think he was from the Oxwich area?I think this photo was taken about
1900,and Billy was in his 60's?.
The John GIBBS that I found in the 1851 census[if it is Jan's man?]was aged
18,he was a Mason.He was living with his parents James & Ester[sic]GIBBS.
James was 46 a shoemaker born Swansea.
His wife Ester was 44 born Swansea.
Here is their possible marriage.....
James GIBBS married to Citty or Etty[sic]LEIGHS at Swansea St;Mary's 17
september 1826.
Someone out there will give you the computerised version of the 1851 census
for High Street Swansea.Ive only got it on Microfiche.
One of James & Ester's children was Ralph aged 15.
Now in the Swansea St;Mary's register is John, the son of Ralph LEIGHS was
baptised at Swansea 5 october 1812.Several other Children of Ralph's were
listed,but no Ester.
Ralph LEIGHS married to Elizabeth GEORGE at Swansea St;Marys 1 may 1797.
The above James GIBBS aged 46 in 1851,was possibly this one, who was
baptised, again at Swansea St;Marys,on the 24 june 1804,the son of John
GIBBS.
Hope these ARE Your's?
Cheers,Graham.
