Thanks Jen. I am grateful for any help anyone can give me - my heart sinks when I come
across yet another Thomas or Davies! I'll be away for a week but will have a look
whether you've managed to find any more when i come back. many thanks, Chris.

A long shot but worthy of a try!, I also have Davies in this region, infact
3 different sets of Davies' in total however concentration on my husbands
family of Davies. He had a David Davies and the family are from Fforestfach
area. I know there is a Coal connection and farm lands were owned by the
Davies at some point near Mynyddbach area of Swansea in the early to mid
1900's. If you are interested in this email me directly off list.
I have looked in the Glamorganshire 1861 Census for your Davies but to no
avail so far, will keep looking for you tomorrow.
Kindest Regards
