From the 'Cambrian' local newspaper index
23rd May 1808 Foundation laid for a new Synagogue in Goat Street, Swansea
6th November 1857 Hebrew Congregation of Swansea contemplating erection of a
new Synagogue in Goat Street.
The next few entries are not completely clear as they are indexed, but I
think that on 4th June 1858 there was an advertisement about the auction of
the building used as a Synagogue in Goat Street, on 22nd June; 22nd October
1858 tenders were invited for building a new synagogue in Goat Street - the
architect being J.H. BAYLIS of Wind Street, Swansea.
On 15th April, 29th April and 27th May 1859 donations and subscriptions
towards a new Synagogue in Goat Street are recorded, including from
L.L.DILLWYN, the local MP, and from Baron ROTHSCHILD MP.
30th September 1859 Consecration of New Synagogue in Goat Street.
20th January 1865 A court case at Swansea Police Court about damage to the
Synagogue in Goat Street.
27th September 1872 Synagogue in Goat Street re-opened and re-consecrated,
and 25th October an item naming mr J. SELINE of High Street as President and
Mr S. GOLDBERG of Goat Street as Treasurer of the Synagogue.
Not many news items have been indexed yet beyond 1874/5, but there is an
item dated 9th November 1888
'Rev. Moses HYAMSON, late of Synagogue, Goat Street, Swansea, leaves for
South Africa.'
There may be more information in Ursula HENRIQUES book ' The Jews of South
Wales' . This is quite good on general background but not so good for
looking for individual families.

Cambrian Index.
I hope this is helpful.
