Hello Cathy,
I am not researching the BREND family but I do have an indirect
connection. Henry Bath BIRCHALL (1823-1867) and Charlotte BREND (abt
1827-1896) married at the Wesleyan Chapel, Chapel Street, Bideford on 17 Jan
1848. He was an Artist of Castle Square, Swansea and she resided at Market
Place, Bideford the daughter, of Joseph BREND, Hatter I suspect their
witnesses, Eliza BREND & William BREND, were her sister and brother. Henry
& Charlotte returned to Swansea, and by 1851 he was managing a grocery
(probably his step-father's) and they went on to have 10 children. Based on
what I've been able to gather from the census, your Thomas appears to be
Charlotte's eldest brother. Am I correct? If this is of interest I do have
more details. Henry's maternal grandfather Henry BATH & my direct ancestor
Edward BATH were 1st cousins.
Best Wishes,
Jo Anne
