The Dyfed list covers Llanelly.
I think you need to find Agnes Mainwaring's birth using FreeBMD to get a
better idea.
I see there was an Agnes Mainwaring in Pontypridd in 1905 , and an Agnes
Mary in West Ham 1903.
Is there any tradition in the family that Agnes was Welsh? Was the marriage
in an area where local industry might have led to recruitment of particular
sorts of workers from Wales?
Bear in mind that hairdressing was a trade taken up by a number of men
coming out of the army after WW1 because wounds or other adverse health
effects meant they could not do heavy work, so he may have been a
hairdresser in 1924 but not 1901.
Just a few ideas
Jeff

Subject: [Swansea] Mainwaring 1901 Census - am I am on the right List ?
I have found a Henry Mainwaring and his wife Albinia Mainwaring on the
1901
at 12 Station Road, Llanelly Urban, he 37 and she 36. He a
Hairdresser/Tobaccanist.
My first question - am I on the right List for this area ?
Does anyone recognise this couple, did they have a daughter Agnes
Mainwaring born 1904 ?
I have just received a marriage certificate for 1924 in Lancashire, Agnes
Mainwaring married a Richard Whitfield, on this she gave her father as
Harry Mainwaring, Hairdresser. It's a pity that she was born after the
1901 Census but he is the only Mainwaring a Hairdresser on this Census.
Of course I realise that I am clutching at straws in that the same Henry
Mainwaring a hairdresser in 1901 was still one in 1924 when his daughter
married.
Any help appreciated.
Kind regards, Pauline Thomas
