This is my first post to this List, I hope someone might be able to help me
please? Thanks in advance!
One of my 2nd Great Grandmothers was a Welsh lady called Mary Jane
DAVIS
who I believe was born in Swansea in about 1831 (age deduced from her
entry in the 1871 England census); she married an Englishman (born in
Bristol in about 1814) called Thomas BADDER, and they set up home in Bristol .
I do not have a date or a place for their marriage (yet), but their
first
child was born in about 1854, so I guess I am looking for a marriage that
took place in the years 1849 - 55.
I have now looked laboriously though the [chargeable]
1837online.com
records for marriages of any Thomas BADDER in the entire period of Jan
1846 to Dec 1856, and sadly I have found nothing at all.
Does anyone who follows this list perhaps recognise this couple?
Thomas BADDER died in Bristol in August 1878 aged about 64. I do not
know when his wife Mary Jane died: she is not listed in the 1881 census, as
far as I can see.
According to the 1871 census the couple were then living at 11 Freemantle
Place, St. James & St. Paul's, in Bristol and they had 5 children recorded
as living with them, born between approximately the years of 1854 and
1865. One was a son called Henry L BADDER born in Cardiff in about 1859:
the others were all born in Bristol.
Why am I posting this message in this list? Because her entry in that
census says she was born in Swansea.
What am I looking for? Any help in tracing:
- the birth of the wife, Mary Jane DAVI(E)S;
- the date and the place of her marriage to Thomas BADDER.
