Many thanks to Bob and Jeff for their guidance re the Angel Inn. The
location suggested near to Bridge St and Llangyfelach Road makes a lot of
sense in relation to where the rest of the family lived.
The only puzzle is why this district was called Cwmbwrla on the marriage
certificate?
Regards
Alan

Hi Alan
No, the "Angel" you've seen in Prince of Wales road was just a name for a
former small car sales garage.
The "Angel Inn" you are looking for was situated at No.2 Llangyfelach St.
This was very near the High St / Carmarthen Road / Bridge St Unfortunately
the pub was demolished in the 1980s. It was a very popular pub in its day.

Subject: [Swansea] Angel inn
The 1902 marriage certificate for my great grandfather's sister Mary Joy
to
William Henry Miles shows that he was living as licensed victualler
at
Angel
Inn Cwmbwrla.
On one of my genealogy strolls around the old Greenhill area of Swansea I
came across an old building in Prince of Wales Road which has ANGEL in
bold
letters still remaining. Could this possibly be the same Angel Inn -
and
is
this location part of what is known as Cwmbwrla?
Thanks.
Alan
My names of interest in Swansea are : JOY, AHERNE, MILES, ABRAHAM
