Subject: [GLA] Cwmgelli & Danygraig Mortuary Chapels
I was hoping that somebody might be able to shed some light on the
"mortuary chapels" in Swansea's Cwmgelli and Danygraig cemeteries.
I'd like to try and find out what their purpose was - a map of
Danygraig that I have dated 1919 shows one as being Nonconformist and
the other Church of England so I assume that they were chapels for use
during funerals or perhaps they were regular chapels but not mausolea.
If memory serves, the Cwmgelli one is locked appeared in good
condition but the two in Danygraig are possibly rather derelict -
Google maps shows one of them to be full of trees!
Does anybody know if any pictures of the insides of them or whether
it's possible to gain access at all?
Thanks
Andrew
