Hell Bryan,
This is a very long shot. During the war my father brought me to Swansea
intending to stay with friends or relatives of his in the town. I have no
idea who they were but would love to find out.
Whilst we were staying with them the 'Three Day Blitz' began and we spent
several days underneath a church or chapel literally in the crypt.
We were living in Kenfig Hill at the time but owing to the familiarity
between my father and his friends they may have been related. How? I don't
know.
My father was Frederick Britzman, I do know that there were some Jewish
families in the town named Britz. I wonder if you can tell me anything or
maybe suggest something?
Best wishes
Barry
Barry,
I have not come across the name. However if they were in
Swansea, I would have thought they would be paying town rates.
Even during the war, normal business of collecting these taxes
mean't that there are lists of owners or occupiers of property.
You would need to select the year and plough through the
whole rate book to see if they existed. I say this because,
if they were just staying with friends or family and not the official
occupier or owner, they might not show up. Were there any
other children involved. Perhaps they are on school lists ?
These are all held at the West Glamorgan archives at County Hall
Swansea.
Regards
Bryan
