Thanks Katherine,
I've not found the death of John RICHARDS even close to his age in the time I expected
his death to be so I'm taking the Chapel route. He lived in Pentregethin in 1872 and
the day after the birth of my G Grandmother, Annie RICHARDS in 1874, he put an ad in The
Cambrian to tell tradesmen that he wasn't liable for any of his wife's debts. He
was living in Waunwen and his wife in Bond Street, Swansea.

Hi, Any death after 1837 should be in Register of Deaths at Family Records
Centre at Islington or on their web-site. It makes no difference whether
they went to Church or Chapel for the Registration.
If it was a Chapel wedding then after 1837 arrangements were made for the
Registrar to be present at the Chapel, to witness the wedding.
Some of my churchgoers were married in Cardiff Registry Office, perhaps it
was fashionable. Can think of no other obvious reason as mine had both been
baptised in local parish churches, maybe cost came into it.
Have no idea how much it cost in either case.
Katherine

John RICHARDS married Mary OWENS at Swansea Register Office in 1868 which
suggests that they were chapelgoers. The relationship ended in dramatic
circumstances in 1874 with Mary moving to Bristol but John remaining in the
Waunwen area. I cannot find any record of Johns death registered although
Mary married again in 1883.
