Ian hello yet again!, should have posted this one in the original mail but
nevermind! I thought I would see where the name is more prominent in the
National Index 1881, the areas which stand out are York with 181 entries and
Durham with 79 entries, there were not many that were born in Glamorgan,
here is the only entry I could find linked to Glamorgan in the 1881 Census:
Dwelling: Rodd Turnpike
Census Place: Rodd Nash & Little Brampton, Hereford, England

Do these link to you at all? Also quite a lot of the other entries come
under the name Lidster not Ledster.
Hope this helps you in your search

Hello Jen,
My grandmother was Alice Ledster born in Leominster in 1881. I have searched
the Leominster parish records at Hereford Records office and found out most
of the deetails.I also have the various Census for Leominster for Ledster.
Alice Ledster's Mother Elizabeth Ledster (Alice was illegitimate) married a
John Isaac in 1885, at the time of the marriage Elizabeth was living at
Forest Fach, Swansea. Elizabeth on the 1881 census is in Leominster.
The father of John Ledster was Richard Isaac. John and Elizabeth lived the
rest of their lives in the Dunvant, Swansea areas.
I have various birth and marriage certificates and the 1881 and 1901 census
transcriptions for this family. Now knowing that Elizabeth together with her
2 illegitimate daughters moved to Swansea between 1881 and 1885, when I
search freeBMD I find some other Ledster's already there and I am trying to
find out some more about them.
From FreeBMD Swansea
Marriage Dec 1873 John Ledster (John born 1854 married an Elizabeth ??
born Swansea)
Birth Sep 1874 Rebecca Ledster
In 1881 this family are living at Rodd Turnpike, Hereford.
I am trying to find connections between the Ledster's of Leominster and
London, and how Elizabeth Ledster moved to Dunvant, the only other Ledster
that I can find in the Swansea area before 1881 is this John Ledster and
then by 1881 he is back in Herefordshire not far from Leominster, near
Elizabeths family.
In FreeBMD there are other Ledster's in the Swansea area, some are my family
and I can account for some of them.
Regards,
Ian.
