The Glamorgan records office and Family History Centre are situated at County Hall,
Oystermouth Road, Swansea where they should be able to get info. on both. The certificate
will have to be ordered £6.50 (i.e. mailed to you) as the records office only provide
current certificates at the time of request. (they may make
an exception though).
Details of master mariners, which I am just about to pursue myself can apparently be found
in Lloyds Shipping registers. See the following website for details
http://ihr.sas.ac.uk/gh/capreg.htm.
You can find contact details for the family history centre and records office on the City
and County of Swansea web site at
www.dylanthomas.org/
I hope this helps
Perhaps i'll bump into them at the records office next year!

Hi everyone
My grandmother and mother are hoping to go to Swansea next year as some of our ancestors
came from there to New Zealand. As the genealogist in the family I want to make sure they
come back with some useful information!!
Richard RULE and Sarah JONES were married in Swansea (St Mary) in 1829. Richard and
apparently many memebrs of his family were sea captians etc. Where could my grandmother
and mother go to find out more about this? Perhaps a maritime museum? Also where would
they find the certificate for the above marriage?
Richard and Sarah's daughter Elizabeth was born in 1837 and christened in the Castle
St Congregational or Independent Church, Swansea. Can anyone tell me anything about this
church?
Finally is there a method of searching for the graves of the above mentioned Richard and
Sarah or is it a case of going through each cemetery and looking? In New Zealand we have
cemetery transcripts for pretty much all cemeteries in the country. Is there any other
way of finding out where they died and were buried?
Thank you very much.
Sincerely
Becs, Invercargill, NZ
