Hi Pat
Thank you for the 1881 census data. I think the most likely possibility
might be the first one on your list; Richard Moggridge b 1829. I have some
clues.
Eleanor Parcell at 3 Pleasant St. was b Apr 6, 1840. I'm quite certain her
age 49 in the 1881 census is an error, it should be abt 41. She appears in
the Parcell family in 1841 and 1851 censuses with age making birthdate abt
1840/41. Eleanor as head of house was a grocer in 1881.
Slaters Commercial Directory, Swansea 1858-1859 transcribed by Phil Mustoe
lists Richard Mogridge on Waterloo Street under the catagory Bakers and
Flour Dealers. Eleanor's brother Henry Parcell (my ggf) lived on Waterloo
Street shortly before emigrating to USA in abt 1884.
So there it is ... grocer + baker/flour dealer + Waterloo Street.
Best regards, George Ross
