Hello, Bryan,
Well, this is a real longshot, but I am trying to trace Albert John
Phillips and I see from your letter that there is a mention of someone
being in the Merchant Navy in 1940, which is the same era as John Phillips
would have been in .... so is there any possibility 1) that that person
would know John or 2) would you be able at all to help me try and find him
through some Merchant Navy site? I understand his ship was torpedoed by
the germans during WW2 and he was an actor and singer, born in Cardiff in
1923/24
Any help would be much appreciated and thank you for your time,
Jonathan Hutchings, born John Hugh Morgan Phillips and then adopted.

I used to live in the building in the background, The Sailor's Home. My
parents were the caretakers and it was demolished after we moved out.

Dec.1940 and spent Christmas half way to Swansea where I had a room in the
sailors home down by the tracks. We lost the convoy and arrived alone.
