help or point me in the right direction. Bye for now Rhonda Larkin
Dear Rhonda.
I have searched the Free BMD website and come up with only 2 results for a
Margaret Reader none in the Swansea area. I also searched for any births
at
all in the Swansea region and came up with no results. I also
searched the
1841, 1851 & 1861 Glamorganshire Census returns for you and no match to
the
family in question. With only one result in the whole lot, she was a
lady
from the Dorset area of England.
Here are the BMD entries in question:
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Births Dec 1845
Reader Margaret Skipton 23 615
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Births Jun 1849
READER Margaret Sheffield 22 648
I also searched the 1881 census for the surname Reader (and variants) and
the name is not particularly dominant in the area with only 18 matches in
the whole of Wales and Monmouth. These are the ones born in Glamorgan but
living elsewhere:
READER, Eliza Wife <1813> Wale Lond
REEDER, Anne Wife <1839> Wale Norf
READER, William Head <1847> Wale Staf
READER, Benjamin Head <1852> Wale Staf
READER, Florence M. Dau <1870> Wale Esse
READER, Albert E. Son <1873> Wale Esse
There are no matches to the name of Reader living in Wales & Monmouthshire
in 1881.
I also searched for Marriages in Swansea St John's Juxta 1837 - 1900 and
there is no entry under the Grooms surname for READER & variants.
You could also try the latter day saints (LDS)website, that can be a good
source of information.
Sorry I cannot be of any more help.
Regards
Jen Colbert
