Hi Merv.
11a covered the whole of South Wales. Pembroke limits it to the Pembroke
registration district. which probably contained dozens of parishes.
If you go to the GRO website you will find that you can order the
certificate online or by phone, and as you have the full reference it will
only cost you 8 UKpounds, which can be by credit card. Writing to Pembroke
superintendent registrar will perhaps get you the cert. for 6.50 UK pounds,
but may get you nothing if they can't find which church it was in.
Once you get the certificate then a lot more information will rapidly open
up to you. The FreeBMD site has quite a helpful link which pops up after a
search has been successful, along the lines of ' What do I do now?' with web
addresses, postal addresses and phone numbers.

Hi Anne, Thanks for your reply. I thought the number would indicate
which
registration district within a main registration area. I will have to try
another idea. Thanks for the help. Merv.
