It may affect some researchers, though most items of interest to Family
historians are at West Glamorgan Archives, not at the University.
Temporary Closure of Swansea University Archives
Swansea University Archives will be closed to all readers from Monday 1 June
and will re-open on Tuesday 1st September 2009.
This will allow time to prepare for the move to our new facilities, to
relocate the documents, and to ensure that the collections are fully
accessible.
During the closed period our enquiries service will be reduced. There will
be some delay in replying to enquiries, and our ability to answer will
depend on the nature of each individual request. A reprographic service will
not be provided during this period. Both the enquiry service and
reprographic service will resume as soon as possible after the move.
Our new facility will provide more spacious, purpose-designed accommodation
for readers and documents. The move of the documents will be followed by the
construction of a new Reading Room and staff accommodation, which is due for
completion in autumn 2009. Our website will provide further information
about the resumption of services.
