I have contacted Russell directly with reports of a court case in which a
named person admitted paternity, and of another court case in which Louisa
is mentioned. Both can be found using Welsh Newspapers Online ( with a
little patience as the OCR technology used seems to mean that in many cases
both money and honey are recorded as 'loney'

Subject: [WLS-SWANSEA] Penmaen Workhouse.
Hello All,
My Grandmother was born 1896 in Penmaen workhouse, although it does appear
that her mother Louisa Loney (Looney) did have a family home, where she
probably returned to. Not quite sure why she was in the workhouse.
Name of father has never surfaced.
Does anybody know if a record of Association Orders was kept for the Swansea
area.
Thanks,
Russell Phillips
