Graham,
One of the sons (Thomas Hopkin Burman) of William Bird Burman did indeed
move to Cardiff and was married there in 1871 and he was also an Engine
Driver and in the 1901 Census was living at 44 Whyndam Crescent in Canton.
In that census he is listed as a Loco Engine Driver and 2 of his 4 sons also
had jobs associated with the railway so I would imagine that it is the same
branch although my research hasn't taken me that far.

Dave.Did any of your BURMAN's become "Engine Drivers"with the G.W.R;?
The Reason I ask is there is one living close by me.He is now 96, if he's
still with us,as I havent seen him for a while.
I think his Father was an Engine Driver too?
Both worked at Canton Sheds..
I worked with Lionel BURMAN,The son,?myself, back in the 1970's.
