I found a FreeBMD marriage for Elizabeth Shugg in 1838, Swansea Reg.
District, so it is likely her husband died at sea. There is no death
registration for him.

January 1824 at Swansea St;Mary's Church.The son of Thomas,[a Mariner of
Swansea,and Elizabeth His wife.
No other children or Other SHUGG's were mentioned in this registers of
1631-1837.
