There is a slim publication 'The Enclosure of Townhill' published by he City
of Swansea in 1990, ISBN 0 946001 16 2 , which shows the location of the
farm on a map on page 18. It appears to have been above the current top of
Baptist Well Place, possibly between High View and Granogwen Road not far
from the 'round school' and the Jews Burial Ground, in the Mayhill district
of Swansea.
I suspect that if you put an address in Granogwen Road into
www.old-maps.co.uk and then moved the map area eastwards you might well
find it, but I haven't checked.
I suspect that another map dated 1830s in the book is based on the Tithe Map
for Swansea Higher and lower.
Townhill was common land which was 'Enclosed' by an act of parliament of
1760 and turned into fields. Baptist Well farm (also apparently known as
Anabaptist Well Farm at some stage) seems to have been just outside the area
that was Enclosed.
The booklet was prepared by N.A. ROBINS and published when Dr J. R. ALBAN
was city archivist.
