Hi Andrew
I don't have any information for you regards any of the names you mention
below sorry but I am curious about you comment "Fortunately I was a military
historian in a previous life and had research many men on the Swansea
Cenotaph."
I have recently discovered that one of my relatives [1st cousin, twice
removed] is listed there and I wondered if you had been able to discovered
any details about him during your research?.
His name is David John Beard of 14th Battalion Welsh Regiment.
I plan to attend the ANZAC day service here in Christchurch on Sunday so
this year, it will be particularly poignant to me.
Cheers
Lynda,
Christchurch NZ

Subject: [WLS-SWANSEA] War memorial found
hello all,
its now my 3rd week as Local History Coordinator for the sandfields Past
and
Present Heritage Lottery project and things are going well. A "missing war
memorial from 1914-18 has been unearthed in a cupboard.
The lovely brass plaque could have come from possibly two places, Spring
Tce
Tabernacle or Memorial Baptist Chapel, now demolished. Fortunately I was a
military historian in a previous life and had research many men on the
Swansea Cenotaph.
Does anyone recognise any of these names
Alfred Buckland 21 Brynmor Rd
Thomas Davie 26 St Phillips Parade
William James Hocking 53 Argyle St
Aubrey Loosmore
Brin Loosmore 25 Richardson St
Edward Mattock
Arthur Price also 26 St Phillips Parade
GG Pomeroy
Trevor Tucker 90 Rodney St
The Loosmores have their names spelt Loosemore on the plaque.
If anyone has any info it would be welcome.
Regards Andrew Vollans
