Hi my great nanna was born in Berwick upon Tweed, her name was Annie Boston
Downes. I don't know the scoop but she was raised by her grandparents, who
were apparantly wealthy fish merchants, and all my life lived in Llanelli,
Swansea. She was born, 10th March 1873, and married William John Davies.
Have you heard anything on your Downes which may tie in with me? My Great
nanna named her first daughter, Euphemia Jean, if thats any clue. Hoping to
hear from you Dianne in Canada.

Hi can anyone help me, My great grandfather was named William John DAVIES,
he was born 8th June 1871, in Cockett, Swansea. Apparantly his mom died
either in childbirth or shortly after, and his Dad remarried. He went on to
have further children,
Bobby, Sarah, Tommy, Annie, Ben, Davie and Sue. Not neccesarily in that
order. Could anyone please check the 1881 census, or later for this family.
It may not be cockett, as my ggramps and his wife later lived in Loughor,
and Llanelli. This is a huge road block for me as I cant find anything out
about my GNanna either. Annie Boston Downes, born 10th March 1873, in
Berwick on Tweed, raised by her Grandparents, wealthy fish merchants, nor do
I know how she ended up in Llanelli. Any help or guidance would be greatly
appreciated. Dianne in Canada.

There are increasingly messages with signatures of longer than 4
lines. These are not only bad netiquette but also take up valuable space
at rootsweb archives. Rootsweb has asked us to remind posters and I
have been negligent in my duty of listowner up to now.
I ask you all to look at your signature and if it is in excess of 4

that they are relevant only to our list when you post messages to the it

Listers,
Would some kind person look up 1891 Census for Swansea for me, please? I
am trying to locate David BOWEN, furnaceman, and his wife Alice. I have
asked previously, but unfortunately had no replies. Here's hoping.
Kind regards,

Hi Ken
I looked at Trafalgar Terrace, Swansea on the 1891 census today and could
not see any JENKS. The ref. is RG12/4478, enumeration districts 7 and 8 on
fiche 1 of the piece.
At no. 53, which must have been quite a large house, the head of household
was Alex F AUSTIN, Ship Builder, b Swansea, Glam. There were a number of
residents - I didn't count but about 10 or 12 - including a visitor, J T
KEAT, married, 52, born Port Isaac, Cornwall, who I took note of because
that was where my Swansea ancestors came from, though I can't connect her as
yet.
I would hope that his name might turn up in 1891 Kelly's Directory, with an
alternative address, if he remained a lodging house keeper. Trafalgar
Terrace still stands.
Best wishes
Jeff

Hi Bernard
I looked at 1891 Census today. Could not find Convent Terrace, Swansea, as
it was not in the street index, but looked closely at Convent Street. They
were quite small dwellings, with only 4 rooms occupied. No. 34 was David
JONES, 48, General Labourer, wife Sarah 48, daughter Sarah A 16 and brother
William 37, Haulier, Copper Works. All were born Swansea.
RG12/4480 Enumeration District 23 on fiche 3 of the Piece. There was no
TOY/TOI in Convent Street. In the Convent itself, in the 'marital state'
column, for all the nuns there was an entry running up the page 'Members of
the Community'.
Sorry you have yet another setback in your quest.
Jeff

Hi
I was wondering if someone could look up the 1881 census for me in regards to a David Thomas wife Ann. We have them living in Swansea in 1881. I believe either him or his wife were born in Mount Ash. They had around 5 children by 1881 one of them being Evan Thomas born 1874.
If someone could pass on the information contained on the census I would be really grateful.
