Hi Duncan,
I can help you, and you have also helped me. I have not been able to
trace Stanley Griffiths as he is listed on the Cenotaph as 6th Bn Welsh
Regiment so your info clears up something for me.
David Daniel Griffiths is another story. In addition to the info you
have on him, I can tell you that he was 21 when he was killed and that
he had been serving for 17 months in France. He was killed at Mansel
Copse, Mametz. A report of his death appears in the South wales daily
Post on 25-7-1916 and a photo of him the following day.
Many thanks for your reply.

Hello all ... here's a suggestion
If you have an ancestor living 1840s and 1850s in Swansea area and you know
the occupation you might try the Swansea city directories. There are two of
them and they can be seen on the genuki Swansea site. The 1858/1859
directory is quite extensive but once you have it on your screen you can
click off line and take all the time you want to scan through.
I have had good luck (found my ancestor in 1858/9 directory with address).
This opens possibility for 1861 census when it becomes available.

I am researching the GARMEY family that lived in Swansea as well as a
JONES family.
John JONES lived in Swansea in the 1800s. In 1883 he was a copper
refiner.
He had at least three children:
Catherine JONES (1850-1936) m. John GARMEY
David JONES m. ?
Jennet JONES m. WILLIAMS

Margaret Owen married William Phillips in the Parish Church in Swansea
in 1848 and then went to NYC. The marriage cert lists her father as
John Owen, a victualler who lived on Back St. at the time of her
marriage. One of her witnesses was Ann Owen, probably a sister.
Looking for more Owen connections. I have William fairly well
documented but lost his brother, Charles after both were naturalized in
NYC in 1860.
