Dear Wendy,
Thank you for your reply.
There is every chance we could be researching the same family, but
unfortunately I have very little to go on at the moment.
The only info I have apart from that which I posted was that Sarah Watkin
married Ham Tite on 5/10/1840 in Hanslope, Bucks. It stated on the marriage
certificate that her father was a carpenter and called Edward. Ham and Sarah
had a daughter called Elizabeth Ann Tite on 24/5/1841 in Hanslope.
Unfortunately, Ham married again on 21/4/1845, so I am assuming that Sarah
died between 1841 and 1845. I cannot find a record of her death in the GRO
indices though.
The only reason I think that there may be a Welsh connection is that the
only Edward in the 1841 Census who had a profession concerned with woodwork
also had children born in Knighton. He had left Wales by then and was living
in Shropshire. I'm hoping he is the one, but until I can find a birth for
Sarah, I'm afraid it is a long shot.
Regards,
Jane.

Hello Jane. I too am interested in the Watkin or Watkins family from
Knighton, Radnorshire. My connection is Charlotte born about 1800 to
Stephen
& Mary Watkins. She married Philip Howells who claims to have been born
in
Malta, but I am wondering if he may have been saying Merthyr. He and
Charlotte lived in London when my GGGrandfather was born. He travelled to
Australia with his parents Philip & Janetta (nee Martin) Howells in 1854
arriving in January 1855. Both Philip and his father were sawyers, so in
the
timber trade .
If there is a chance that we are even vaguely tracing the same family
line,
I would love to hear from you.
Good hunting
Wendy White nee Howells
Finniss South Australia.
