Church, Mainstone, has been received with universal regret, and he will

IN MEMORIAM.
ALFRED ERNEST JAMES. All members of the Choir will wish to express their
sincere sympathy with our Choirmaster and his family in the great sorrow
that has come to them. Alfred James was in past years a member of the
choir, and at the funeral the choir, who were present in full numbers, sang
the hymns and psalm. After the lesson had been read all remained standing
whilst the Dead March was played, and then preceded by the choir chanting a
Litany the body was borne to its resting place.
SAMUEL HOLDING. The choir have lost another young member by the sudden
death of Samuel Holding; and all of us sympathize deeply with his brothers
and sisters in the great sorrow that has followed so quickly on their mother
's death. It was a matter of much regret to the members of the choir that
owing to the necessity of having the funeral on the fair day it was found
impossible to arrange for a choral service.
