My ancestors are also Lewis' from Llanbadarnfynydd . My gg grandfather was
John Ingram married to Sarah Lewis and they lived at Llanbadarn Fynydd until
1850 then immigrated to US. Sarah Lewis' mother was Elizabeth Stephens.

Cheryl
I have just been looking at the 1881 census cd for Llanbadarnfynydd and
recognise many of the places you refer to.
I am also interested in the LEWIS family - my mother's mother was Eliza
LEWIS. Her father was George LEWIS from Llanbadarnfynydd but they were
living in Paddington, London in 1881. He was a shoemaker.
I am not aware that my cousins have any details of George's family so I
cannot connect to any of the LEWIS's on the census as yet but I do know
that
in about 1970 there was a Tom LEWIS living there on a farm close to
the,
then, new extension to the graveyard on the main road. The land had been
given by a PRICE (spelling unknown) who was a half brother to Tom LEWIS.
I
hope I got that detail correct. Perhaps Brian will correct it if
not.
Perhaps you could let us have any of your data which may be relevant. If
you
don't have the 1881 census please let me know. I can look up a
few names
for you if necessary.
I am hoping to visit the area in the autumn so can perhaps make some
connections then, particularly if the LEWIS's still run the farm (foot &
mouth permitting).

Ted Wildey
