My great grandfather was Charles PRICE, bap. 25.7.1856 in Pembridge,
Herefordshire. On his baptism entry it says he is the son of Thomas and
Mary PRICE, and I also have his birth certificate which confirms father
as Thomas Price and mother Mary WILLIAMS. They are living at The Forge,
Pembridge. Charles had an older brother George, b. Pembridge l856, and
two younger brothers, Thomas, b. l858 Pembridge and Samuel b. l86l
Brilley.
I believe I have found Thomas and Mary on the l88l census living in
Holms Marsh, Lyonshall, Hereford:
Thomas PRICE, 59, b. Glascomb, Radnorshire
Mary PRICE, 59, b. Brilley, Herefordshire
Samuel PRICE, 20, son, b. Brilley
A kind lister suggested a family to whom Thomas might have been a son
and gave me the following entry for the l84l census for Glascwm
(Franksbridge)
Samuel PRICE, 45, Y(b. Radnor)
Ann PRICE, 45, Y
Thomas PRICE, 20, Y
Ann PRICE, l5, Y
Mary PRICE, 9, Y
Elizabeth PRICE, 5, Y
William PRICE, l, Y
I believe I found the same Samuel and Ann on the l85l Franksbridge
Census whilst at the London RO...and then lost the sheet on the way
home!
Does anyone have any connections to this PRICE line? What I would love,
is for someone to have a look in the Glascwm Baptism Parish Register to
see whether there is more than one Thomas PRICE born there in l822...if
not then this must be him....Hopefull this would give me the mother's
maiden name also.
Could anyone help? If not, perhaps someone could kindly advise the
address of the Records Office who currently look after these records.
p.s.Thomas and Ann Price moved to Dowlais along with Charles and his
wife Susannah about l890. I have not managed to trace their resting
place, however, it might be easier to find Samuel and Ann's...if they
turn out to be "mine".
Many thanks for your time.....Diane Johansen
