Could anyone native to Radnorshire help me with info about industries
c.1828 in the Glascwm area? I have a family who seem to have moved here
from Merthyr Tydfil but later moved back again. The wife of the family
was born in Breconshire and the husband in Derbyshire so I am presuming
that it was work that brought the couple with two children to
Radnorshire.

Dear Jan,
Glascwm is a very rural area.
A quick analysis of the LDS 1881 census transcript shows about 400
people living in the parish of Glascwm.
Of the adults, the vast majority worked in farming-related occupations
(e.g. farmer, agricultural labourer, farm servant, etc). The other
occupations listed were: builder, carpenter, charwoman, corn miller,
grocer, innkeeper, labourer, laundress, milliner, nurse, schoolmaster,
servant, shoemaker, and stonemason.
The situation is unlikely to have been very different in 1828.
Kind regards,
John
