I have heard of one that spells phonetically as Lambay, but I think that
is England, not Wales.

somewhere that sounds a bit like 'Lambutt' and the nearest I can find
is
Llanbedr. I too agree with you that it is not likely to be Lambutt,
so
must
be an Anglicised version of a Welsh name.
