Dear Listers,
I am responding to the recent spate of queries about the current status of
the WLS-Radnorshire list.
The WLS-RAD List has 108 members - 92 in mail mode; 26 in digest mode.
The Powys List has 426 members - 290 in mail mode; 136 in digest mode.
Since the beginning of the year, 41 messages have been posted to the WLS-RAD
List, more than half of which (23) were in February when the proposed
rationalisation of the mid-Wales lists was under discussion. Since the
beginning of March, a total of 8 messages have been posted to the WLS-RAD
List.
Since the beginning of the year, 1733 messages have been posted to the Powys
List (including 541 in February). Since the end of March, the Powys List
traffic has settled down to just under 250 per month, or between 8 and 9
messages per day.
On 11 February 2006, following much discussion among members of all the
mid-Wales lists, the joint administrators of these lists advised members of
the single-county lists (BRE, MGY, RAD) to subscribe to the Powys List and
focus their enquiries on that list.
The adminstrators also advised that "...the BRE, MGY, and RAD lists are NOT
being closed. They are unlikely to be carrying much list mail but it is
entirely up to you to decide whether to unsubscribe".
The status of the lists has remained unchanged since then. A few individuals
have expressed regret that the single county lists were to be virtually
ignored, but the majority were happy to concentrate their activities on the
well-supported Powys List.
We do not propose to revisit these arguments which were very thoroughly
discussed in February.
Please address your views on this matter directly to me at
<john(a)jlb2005.plus.com> and *not* to the list.
Kind regards,
John Ball
