Hello Eric....I was interested to read your recent request for
information on the PRICE family of Glascwm and think I might prove to be
researching the same line.
See what you think.... (Copied to Radnor List for interest of any PRICE
researchers!)
I know that my great grandfather was Charles PRICE, b. l856 Pembridge.
He had an older brother George, b. l854, and two younger brothers,
Thomas, b. l858 in Pembridge and Samuel, b. l86l in Brilley.
Charles' father was Thomas PRICE , b. l822 in Glascomb. He married a
Mary WILLIAMS who was born l822 Brilley, however I have not found their
marriage.
I was sent some information on the l84l Census which suggested Thomas
might be the one belonging to the following family:
PRICE, Samuel, 45, ag. lag., b. Frank
PRICE,, Ann, 45, b. Frank
PRICE, Thomas, 20, b. Frank
PRICE, Ann, l5, b. Frank
PRICE, Mary, 9, b. Frank
PRICE, Elizabeth, 5, b. Frank
PRICE, William, l, b. Frank.
The lady who wrote was unable to shed any light on the place-name Frank,
however felt that, as four different surnames were given for the entry
it might have been a large farm.
I have a feeling we might both be looking at the same family. If Samuel
was your g.g.grandfather then he could also be my g.g.g.!
Just to complicate matters, Charles PRICE (b. l856) married a widow,
Susannah PREECE (b. PRICE in Weobley l847). Her father was also called
Charles PRICE (b. l8l9 Dilwyn) and he was the son of a Stephen PRICE b.
abt l792 in Llanstephan, Radnor. So many PRICES and PREECES - it's a
wonder I've made any headway at all!
Looking forward to hearing from you.....from Diane Johansen
