Hi All,
I am returning to my Jones connections after a sojourn in the Shetland
Islands chasing my wife's family and wondered whether anyone could help with
a problem I am having. The following extract from 1881 census shows my
paternal Grandmother (Sarah JONES) and her family. The address at the time
was 20 Church Street, Rhayader.
Name Relation Marital[PARA]Status Gender Age Birthplace[PARA]
Occupation[PARA]
Philip JONES Head M Male 36 Rhayader Master Shoemaker
Margaret JONES Wife M Female 33 Rhayader
Mary JONES Daur Female 9 Rhayader Scholar
Philip C JONES Son Male 7 Rhayader Scholar
Margaret JONES Daur Female 5 Rhayader Scholar
Sarah JONES Daur Female 3 Rhayader Scholar
I have been trying to tie a family story about an `Auntie Annie from
Abersychan who was supposed to have been Sarah's sister.
Question - Does the 1891 for Rhayader exist and is this family on it?
I have found a family on 1901 Census that seems to be a possible tie up at
45 Church Street it reads as follows.
Name Relation Marital[PARA]Status Gender Age Birthplace[PARA]
Occupation[PARA]
Philip JONES Head M Male 55 Rhayader 1901 Transcript says Farmer but I think
it could be Tanner
Margaret JONES Wife M Female 53 Rhayader
John ? JONES Son Male 16 Rhayader Apprentice ?
Richard JONES Son Male 14 Rhayader
Annie JONES Daur Female 9 Rhayader
Maria JONES Daur Female 3 Rhayader
There is no overlap of the children and Sarah does not appear on the 1901
(she did not get married until 1902) and I believe that Maria could be
Sarah's daughter.
Can anyone help.
Many thanks in anticipation
Phil
