Hi Jenn,
This is the entry from the 1881 Census showing that Ann was born in Newnham
Gloucester. A Birth Certificate for Florence would give Ann's maiden name.

This is the 1871 Census and you can see Arthur was living on his own so his
marriage probably took place between then and the birth of Florence.
Sub-District of Presteigne RG10:5594
Parish of Presteigne
DAVIES Arthur R, h, u, 24, druggist, RAD Presteign, High Street, /f79/p3
This is 1861 and shows the names of his parents and a brother: The HED is
probably HEF for Hereforshire:

The 1851 Census which shows more of the family:

The 1841 Census is slightly different in that ages are rounded down to 5 and
0 for adults also the parish of birth isn't given just Y for born in
Radnorshire and N for born out of the county. This entry shows that both
Richard and Catherine were born out of Radnorshire which is different for
Richard in the later censuses. Relationships were not given for this
census. It is difficult to know where one residence ends and the next one
starts. I have included the next entry as I thought it interesting that
Thomas Roberts was a druggist perhaps that was why Arthur became one.
Parish of Presteigne:

I went back to the 1871 Census and found this entry for Richard and
Catherine:
Sub-District of Presteigne RG10:5594
The Whole of the Parish of KNILL including Rodd Nash, Little Brampton and
Combe
DAVIES Richard, h, m, 68, farmer, RAD Presteign, Combe, /f20/p15
DAVIES Catherine, w, m, 63,, HEF Dilwyn, Combe, /f20/p15
DAVIES James, s, u, 28, farmers son, RAD Presteign, Combe, /f20/p15
NEWMAN Mary, sv,, 16,, HEF Lingen, Combe, /f20/p15
I couldn't find them on the 1881 so they may have beendead by then. I have
tried to carry out a search for the marriage of Arthur and Ann but the Free
BMD site was busy. The address is:

hope the above helps you with your research.

Margaret Harvey
