As a young man * Aaron worked as an ostler at Craig Noss Castle in Wales.
It was owned by Adelina Pattie, a major opera star of the time. Later he
used a cart to 'drive out' groceries from "The Coffee Pot", a small
grocers
shop in Swansea. Aaron tells how he became friendly with a man called
Cullen, named differently as Cannon in a letter his son Aaron sent to Sheila
Martin, and went to Scotland with him. There he saw a sign 'Picture Frame
Maker Wanted' and got the job despite his complete lack of experience and
knowledge of the trade. He kept this job at least until his sons were born
as the father's occupation on the birth certificates of Aaron, John and
James is given as 'Picture Frame Maker'.
