Hi Margaret
Yes, I have contacted Alan Powell and he checked his register for me for me.
They are not there. Herefordshire and Monmouthshire have also been checked.
I thought it may have taken place in Abergavenny as the records were not on
Alan Powell's list, but the marriage did not take place there either. They
either did not marry or married in a parish not yet indexed.
Sarah Lewis of Penrhewl died and was buried 10th February 1838 aged 78 years
at Boughrood. Too soon for the 1841 census. Howell died 5th March 1817.
Thanks for the interest and the offer of help. I have the booklet of the
1841 census for Boughrood and Glasbury and the MI's.
Regards Heather in Yorkshire

Hi Heather,
Have you tried the Powell and Hemmings Marriage Index? Radnorshire
1754-1812 is indexed by groom and most information is shown.
Surnames A-L
Mr. A. A. Powell, M.A.,
24, Parc Bryn,
Pontllanfraith,
Gwent, NP12 2RA
Surnames M-Z
Mr. B. Hemmings,
1, Marianwen Street,
Cefn Fforest,
Blackwood,
Gwent,
Brecknockshire 1754-1812 indexed by groom, most information shown.
Monmouthshire 1754-1812 indexed by groom , most information shown
(Abergavenny and Monmouth parishes still to be indexed)
There is no cost for searching (just a S.A.E) but £3 charge for a
successfully located marriage - this goes towards travelling costs.
I hope this helps. The marriage probably took place in the parish where
born and if she was still alive in 1841 the Census should give that
detail.
I have the 1841 Radnorshire Census but at the moment the CD player on
my
computer is not working. Hopefully it will be tomorrow when the engineer
is
coming to replace it so get back to me if you want a look-up.
I have only been researching my family since January 1999 and have been
incredibly lucky in my research by finding very helpful people on the
Powys
list.
Regards,
Margaret Harvey
