How would I go about trying to find a Marriage and a birth for
Thomas "Morgan" Evans.
His mothers name was Cath, possibly Catherine, his native place was
Westport.
But when sentenced, he was living at Denbigh, he had a brother Morgan
and a sister Mary.
No fathers name was given, The name Morgan was used for four of his
five children.
Either as a middle name or a third name. He was alway's known as
Thomas Morgan Evans.
So could have been his Father's forename or Mother's maiden name.
He would have been born 1820- 1824. I have tried the IGI,
with no luck, No Mother called Cath or Catherine.
He was married prior to 1847, as his wife died before he was sentenced.
Which was in 1847.
He had a letter to that effect on his person when sentenced.
He was sent to Tasmania, for stealing a horse from or "For" one
Matthew Evans.
He was in the army and had paid for his own discharge from the Army.
It say's he was in the 75th regiment.
And also who woukd I contact, about finding out exactly where in
Denbigh, that he
would have appeared in court, Prison he was in as he didn't arrive
till 1850.
where would the records be kept for, Trials and such of that period in
time.
I have no idea of his wife'e name, as because she was already
deceased, it does not state her name
on his Convict Record.
Can SKS please help me as I am really stuck with this fellow.
And have never done any research in Wales before.
