I've looked for your Lanes, & found in the 1901 census index -
Rosanna Lane, 74, Dairymaid domestic born Warwickshire
Charles Lane, 53, coachman born Brecon Llanigon
Mary Lane, 53, born Somerset Walpole
Rose Lane, 23, born Glamorgan Wenvoe
All in Glasbury, Breconshire. They may have bought groceries from my
great-great grandmothers aunt Selina Worthings shop.
The only Lane in Radnorshire was William, 23, plumber born Glamorgan
Bridgend, in Knighton.
Perhaps they lived in Radnorshire at a later date (Glasbury's very near the
boundary), but they didn't originate there.
In the 1881 census, Rosanna was living at Maeslough Lodge, Glasbury, aged
55, widowed, Dairywoman.
Maeslough Stables -
Charles Lane 34 b Llanigon Brecknock Coachman (Dom)
Mary wife 33 b Warpole Somerset
Charles C son 5 b Huntspill Somerset Scholar
Rosa E. M. dau 3 b Wenvoe, Glamorgan
There's another family of Lanes who may be connected, at Tregoyd, Brecon.
Children born Llanigon & Glasbury, daughters May & Roseann - but you can
check them yourself at
http://www.familysearch.org/
The christening of Charles in 1846 is on the IGI -
Charles Lane chr 27 Sep 1846, Llanigon, Brecon
Father Charles Lane
Mother "Rodana" (transcription error, obviously).
Also some siblings, & other Lanes in Glasbury back to ca 1750.
Paul
