Hello List
I'm researching the above family names on behalf of my wife Pam
nee CLEE.
We have had success in tracing her paternal family members -
who mainly came from Knighton (late 18/19th c), and before that
Ludlow - the BAKERS, and Llanbister - the GREENWOODS and HAMERS.
So would be interested in any connections!
Unfortunately we have major brick walls with the maternal family DAVIES and
JONES who were connected with the spa activities at Llandrinod
Wells at end of the 19th c. Grandfather Charles Stewart DAVIES, a widower
married AMY DAVIES in 1909 in Brighton! - though he was a masseur in
Llandrinod at the time.
We don't know their history, apart from their address in Llandrinod
(visited!!)
and their marriage certificate.
Her father William John JONES was a boot and shoe seller (could be the one
from
Carnarvon in 1875 according to the 1881 census).
His father John DAVIES was dead by 1909, but a builder ( could be from
Denbigh
according to the 1881 census).
Any clues/information would be welcome.
I already "subscribe" to the POWYS site and am a member of the POWYS FHS -
both very helpful
