Hi All,
Just a quick e-mail to let you know we are organising a "Memorial
Service" to dedicate the memorial plaque we have commisioned on the 07th Jan
2003.
This plaque is to commemorate the six airmen tragically killed on 07th Jan
1940 and will be in the form of a black marble plaque which will be hung in
the Berwyn Centre after the ceremony.
We will be inviting the great and good and involving all the schools in the
valley and Ogmore Comprehensive.
All schools have so far indicated they are very keen to be involved and for
that reason the places avialble will be limited. We are opening up the event
to members of the Society first and will open it to the genral public only
if room allows, as the Berwyn holds 296 and as I have said all 5 schools
contacted are very eager to participate.
We will publish more details closer to the time when full details are known
but anyone who wants to attend, if they can let me know ASAP please, so that
I can reserve your seats.
he service is a new venture for us so is a little untried, though we
anticipate a service of approx. one hour followed by a finger buffet in the
Society`s room in the Berwyn Centre.
Guests we are expecting so far include Mr. Joe Ingleby and family, brother
of one of the airmen killed, and Huw Irranca-Davies MP for Ogmore. Naturally
the local paper will be invloved and HTV have expresed an interest but will
need reminding closer to the time..........
