Hi All,
Some more info after last nights meeting............
Joe INGLEBY has now snt us an article that appeared in the "Darwen News" on
Mar 12 1940 about his brother Peter.
In it, it is clear that Peter was a very well educated man winning a number
of scholarships to attend Manchester University wher he gained a first class
honours degree in Science.
The article states he was employed by the Air Ministry on Top Secret work
when he was killed and the article also has a photo of Peter!
Peters name is engraved on the Woodhall Spa Memorial in Lincolnshire which
we now have a photo of, though we are hoping to obtain a closer one with
Peters name on it.
We suspect that Robert Kyd BEATTIE may also be on the memorial but have yet
to prove that...........

Hi All,
Some excellent news today, Ken James had a phone call from the
brother of Peter INGLEBY who was one of the two civilian victims on 07th
Jan
1940.
Ken had written to both last known addresses of the civilian casualties
and
recieved a surprised but very welcome phone call this morning off
Peter`s
brother.
Ken will be arranging a meeting with the brother (don`t know his name yet)
but we already know that the father travelled down to idenify Peters
remains
and his brother was called up the day before he died.
he is keen to travel down to the Valley to view the crash site and he too
has been searching for his brothers grave as he hs informed us Peter was
cremated at Glyntaff Crematorium and his ashes taken back to York.
