Hi Josephine, Bumped into some PAYNE`s tonight in the Aber Boys
School
Register.............
Hi Huw,
What a very pleasant surprise it was finding the school register
information about my mother's PAYNE cousins, this morning.
Aber Boys School
Entry No 321
Sidney PAYNE
School Admitance Date: 30 Aug 1915
of 40 High street (Also in 40 High St wa Wm John CARNE, a Collier and his
family)
born: 05 Mar 1908 (Verified by Parental Declaration.)
Previous School: Aber Infants
Father: Sidney, A Labourer
Left School: For Work, 12 Apr 1922
My mother said that she had many PAYNE cousins, sons and daughters of
Sidney and Anne PAYNE of High Street, Ogmore Vale. She couldn't remember
all their names, but I'm pretty sure that this is one of mine. Among the
others were Evelyn, Edna, Illtyd, Selwyn and Cassie who was blind. I
believe that she attended the school for the blind at Bridgend.
I'm a bit puzzled by the address of 40 High Street as the address, but
maybe the school put down the wrong address, especially as Wm John CARNE
and his family were also living there.
Aber Boys School
Entry No 539
Selwyn PAYNE
School Admitance Date: 01 Apr 1919
of 15 High Street
born: 29 Dec 1911 (Verified by Parental Declaration.)
Previous School: Aber Infants
Father: Sidney, A Labourer
Left School: For Work, 31 Dec 1925
This is definitely one of my Mum's cousins and the address of 15 High
Street fits in with the information I already have on the family. Strange,
though that the father's occupation should have been recorded as labourer
when he had been in business as a butcher/ fruiterer/fishmonger for a
number of years.
Aber Boys School
Entry No 560
Cecil Hry PAYNE
School Admitance Date: 11 Nov 1919
of "Council Yard"
born: 08 May 1910 (Verified by Parental Declaration.)
Previous School: Gloster
Father: Thomas, An Engineer
Left School: 05 Dec 1920
Went back Aug 1921
Left 1923
I don't think this one is related to my PAYNEs as I don't have a Thomas in
my family and seeing that the previous school was Gloster, that confirms
it. However, always better to have too many than too few! :-) I'm really
grateful to you, Huw for thinking of me and letting me know this
information.
All the best,
Josephine
