No doubt most of you have heard by now that BCBC have taken the decision
to close and demolish the Berwyn centre from the 1st November 2012.
Whilst there is a groundswell of public opinion and indeed yet another
action group formed to try and prevent this I don`t think this will
happen and the last Public Building owned by the Council in the Valley
will close after 100 years in 2 weeks time.
That means of course that our Room in the old reading room will no
longer be available and we have to urgently find a home for all our
artefacts before the demolition men move in.
To that end we are currently negotiating with the Berwyn centre manager,
Siân, Ogmore Valley Community Council, Ty`r Ardd (Bridgend Reference
Library) and Glamorgan Record Office on our paper based archives.
I have been up to our room this morning and had a serious "de-clutter"
but our biggest issue will be the storage of the non paper items and our
back copies of the Journals.
We will be discussing our options fully in this Wednesday`s meeting
(17th) and again in what I suspect will be our final meeting in the
Berwyn on the 31st.
So for all the members on this list, if you want a say or want to help,
please attend this Wednesday,
Many Thanks,
