Hi All,
it`s been a very busy but fruitful week for the Society as we
have not only have we been putting the finishing touches to this years
Journal, but we have been sent hundreds of Images of the Valley that the
vast majority we haven`t seen before. With 2 more CDs on the way!
We have also had several bowling Badges and an Ogmore Grammar School
enamel badge kindly donated to our archive from the estate of Mrs Irene
Anderson by Mrs Eileen Brown.
We have also received images of the funeral book of John REES,
Undertakers of Nantymoel from 1908 to 1961 with details of hundreds of
burials, though sadly reflected is the very high infant mortality rate
with most entries for the first few years being of children.
We have also secured a replacement outlet in Ogmore Vale to sell our
Journals and Crystals which we have been without since the retirement of
Roy Nutt from "Roys News", in the Nisa Local of Blandy Terrace (Edgar
Liddens old shop), and with a bit of luck as they are open 7 days a week
perhaps our sales will increase......
If you have any suggestions for next years article, drop us a line and
we will look into the suggestion......
