Hi All,
Now that we have secured the funding I am very happy to announce a
major new resource in the pipeline for anyone with connections in the Ogmore
and Garw Valleys of Bridgend.
The Ogmore Valley Local History Society have been given on permanent loan
the remaining bound volumes of the Ogmore & Garw Urban District Council,
some 50+ volumes running to 20,000 pages of daily information discussed at
the council running from 1912 to 1974 when the boundary changes at that time
the council change to "Ogwr Borough Council".
In partnership with "Digitise It.Com" we are transferring the complete set
onto CD Rom and hope to be depositing the complete set in local record
offices (Glamorgan Record Office, Coed Parc, GFHS Centre Aberkenfig,
Bridgend Branch GFHS) as well as local schools within the next two months.
We will also make them available to inviduals who may want to purchase them,
though obviously at this stage we have no idea on the eventual cost of the
set of CD Rom`s.
The official handover of the cheque from "Award for all Wales" will be this
Thursday (30th) in the Berwyn centre, where Mrs Janice Gregoey AM for Ogmore
will be doing the honours.
Anyone wanting more information, drop me a line........
Regards
Huw
