We haven`t as yet recieved any correspondence to include in this years journal and space
considerations may not allow us to include them at this late stage though we will review
any that we receive.
Already for Journal 2003 we have the following articles:
"Jesse Webb D.C.M." by Jesse Webb (50+)
"History of the Ogmore Workman`s Hall" by Dennis Trigg (10+)
"The First Spice Girls, the Religous Revival of 1904/5" by ??
Next year and every subsequent year we will be offering three "prizes" to the
local
schools for an article based on the history of the Valley from the children of the
following schools:
Aber Infants, Fronwen Junior, Nantymoel Primary and Tynewydd Junior. With the
"Prizes"
carrying on from 2004 for the new "Ogmore Vale Primary School" which opens in
Sep 2003 nd
Nantymoel Primary school.
The intention will also be to publish any article if it is of a suffiecent standard to do
so, not that we will be setting high acedemic standards, but the articles have to be
readable and enjoyable. As a Society we will of course give what help we can via the
teaching staff and have already spoken to three of the four schools who are very keen on
the idea.
