Dear Huw,
Excellent new document. I cannot wait to see it. I had heard of Mr. Redshaw
years ago but know little about him.
A great addition to our archive.
Best wishes,
Bert

Subject: [WLS-OGMORE-VALLEY] Tonights meeting
Hi All,
For those unable to attend tonights (short) meeting, you have
missed a real gem of an item donated to the Society.....
Thanks to Trevor John who has been in contact with Mr Peter REDSHAW who has
very kindly sent us a very good image of an Illuminated Address given to his
grandfather, Mr Thomas REDSHAW, M.E. of the Penllwyngwent and Cwm Fuwch
Collieries on his departure from the valley on 13th February 1913.
Not only is this an excellent piece of artwork, but it also contains the
signatures of the Chairman, Fisher Morgan, the Treasurer, Aaron Thomas and
the members of the committee:
T. Mosley, Edward Hares, William J. Bartlett, Henry Bartlett(?), John J.
Curtis, Herbert G. Madley.
It also 4 corner roundels with images and a top image, of which we only have
seen previously the image of Aber Colliery, the four new views we haven`t
seen previously are:
Top image: Aber House
Top Right Roundel: Penllwyngwent Colliery (looks like a view from the Aber
Colliery) Bottom Right: Colour image of Cwm Fuwch coal drams (slightly
different angle than our current image and in colour) Bottom Left: Coal
drams enetering and leaving a drift mine...Probably Penllwyngwent?
I will scan these images and add to our Facebook Group.....
