Dear David,
Idloes is the name of the minor Welsh saint to whom the parish church at
Llanidloes is dedicated. I suppose it's possible a property could have
been named after the saint.
In the 1881 census, the address "Idloes Terrace, Llanidloes" appears
eight times, and two people actually bear the given name Idloes.
Idloes Terrace still exists as a cul-de-sac off the junction of Foundry
Lane and Well Lane, in Lower Green, Llanidloes.
Historically, little is known about St Idloes, but according to
Breverton (2000) he lived in the 6th - 7th century AD and was the son of
Gwyddnai ap Llawfrodedd Fartog Coch. He founded Llanidloes.
